Our background

Before 1990

Planting the seed

Abigail Farm Supply, Inc. started with one man’s vision of having his own business to serve the needs of farmers in his hometown.

Edwin Cuenca is a licensed Mechanical and Marine Engineer but his destiny was not at sea but in the lands and fields that the farmers tilled. He grew up in the rice fields of Lamian, Surallah, South Cotabato and lived the life of a farmer. He knew their needs and their aspirations.

And so, he opted to serve the farmers by providing farm inputs they need to produce more yield and ultimately live better lives.

Jan 3, 1990

Finding roots in Surallah, South Cotabato

With no background in selling farm supply products and a limited capital, Edwin founded the Cuenca Agricultural Supply on January 3, 1990. He opened his first store located in Barangay Lamian, Surallah, South Cotabato, the place where he grew up.

He would start his day before sunrise and wait along the road for the cargo truck transporting crops to GenSan. It is there that he buys farm inputs such as pesticides and fertilizers. To return to Lamian, he would hitch a ride with the same cargo truck heading back to transport the supplies he purchased for his store.

1990-1992

Growing the business

Edwin invested heavily on hard work, dedication, perseverance and prayer which made his business grow. He then found the right partner in the person of his wife Ruth to help him achieve greater success for the company which they renamed in 1992 as Abigail Farm Supply, after their firstborn.

2011

Incorporation of Abigail Farm Supply

This later became Abigail Farm Supply, Inc. after its incorporation in 2011. The one-man team has grown into a company of 120 employees, each one treated like family.
